OUR STORY
Serving the Whittier Community
For over 50 years, The Good Shepherd Church has been a community of faith rooted in the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do. Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures, life’s only guidebook. Come and join us to experience God’s grace for yourself. There’s a special place for you at The Good Shepherd.
In the early morning hours of October 31, 2019, our community woke up to the devastating news of our church engulfed in flames. The fire department was on the scene in no time and able to keep the fire from damaging the surrounding properties. However, our hearts are heavy in announcing the loss of our beautiful building. The Good Shepherd has called this building its home for the past 20 years, where countless memories have been made, generations have been raised, and souls have been won for the kingdom. While our building is no more, we are filled with hope and faith, and press on to continue our mission of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you to the City of Whittier, our Fire Department and Police Department and our surrounding church community for the gracious support and prayers.
We are so excited to announce that we now have a NEW CHURCH HOME!
Our Sunday services will now be held at 7021 Greenleaf Ave. at 10AM.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we step into this new and exciting season.
ALL GLORY TO GOD!
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe...
In the verbal inspiration of the Holy Scriptures
In the Absolute Trinity of the eternal Godhead: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and His virgin birth
In the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit
In full salvation by grace through Faith and not of works
In divine healing in answer to believing prayer
In the personal baptism in the Holy Spirit as received by the Apostles (Acts 2:4)
In water baptism by immersion at an age a accountability
In tithing and giving as God's financial plan
In a literal heaven and life everlasting for all true believers
In the personal, literal, bodily & premillennial coming of Jesus Christ
And if I be lifted up from the Earth I will draw all men unto myself.
John 12:32
